Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession, has named Jeremy Delicino as the “Salt Lake City Best Lawyers Criminal Defense: Non-White-Collar Lawyer of the Year for 2012.
After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers is designating “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”
Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 18th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2012) is based on more than 3.9 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.
The lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in our surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.
Steven Naifeh, President of Best Lawyers, says, “We continue to believe – as we have believed for more than 25 years – that recognition by one’s peers is the most meaningful form of praise in the legal profession. We would like to congratulate Jeremy Delicino on being selected as the ‘Salt Lake City Best Lawyers Criminal Defense: Non-White-Collar Lawyer of the Year’ for 2012.”
With warm regards,
"Having had such a close attorney/client relationship with Mr. Delicino I feel I can give a very objective view of the type of individual that Jeremy is both professionally and personally. My story begins with looking at a possible 20 year minimum manditory federal prison term. Jeremy took the time to listen to my side of the story, unlike many appointed public defenders. Based upon what I told him, Mr. Delicino developed one of the finest legal defense strategies I have ever witnessed. His keen sense of legal expertise was shown throughout the duration of my case. Keeping in mind that he was appointed counsel, is the earmark of how serious he takes his profession. He fought harder than any lawyer I have ever seen at ANY price, and yet the meager defender fee is all he ever received for my representation.
I personally witnessed his examination of government witnesses that led those persons into actually committing perjury due to his direct, factual type of questioning.
Now instead of the 20 years minimum in federal prison, Jeremy was able to negotiate a plea bargain that secured my release with time served and probation. It could well be that I owe Jeremy my life that appeared to be spent in prison, but instead Jeremy humbly tries to give credit anywhere other than himself.
Since my release I have also found what a dynamic non-judgmental friend he is as well. Quick to return any call, he has shown his dedication far beyond the call of duty as an attorney. He is one of a kind and I would recommend that his services be secured for anyone tha faces the oftentimes uncertain gauntlet the federal criminal system provides."

"It's hard to put into words the impact that just this one case has had not only on my life, but several others. I too, am indeed grateful for Jeremy’s dedication and determination to seek justice and bring forth a positive outcome. Isn’t it comforting to know that Mr. Delicino takes his profession seriously and fights hard for ALL who retain him and is not persuaded by money."

“I truly believe that Jeremy Delicino is one of the best attorney’s in the world. I had a federal drug case with no minimum mandatories, but l had my guidelines that were 27 to 33 months. At sentencing, Jeremy argued for a sentence below my guidelines and time served. I did 16 months. I never ever saw a yard and Jeremy also got back every piece of property that the DEA seized from me, cars, Harley, and money in my bank account. The DEA agent that arrested me got so mad that I was released and that l got time served. He went down to Utah County and filed several new felonies against me that stemmed from my federal case. I told Jeremy about the new charges. Jeremy never asked me for a dime. No money at all and Jeremy went down to my first court date and within a few months got the case in Utah County dismissed. That shows you what kind of person and attorney Jeremy Delicino is. He was not going to stand back and let them railroad me and give me more time. Jeremy, I truly believe that if there were more attorneys like you, there would be less people in prison and more people doing a lot less time. You are truly the best attorney out there and I just want to say, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for going above and beyond for me, when you did not know me at all”. You would think that with everything you have done for me, that I was family or somehow related to you. In fact, I just met you for the first time in my life when you were appointed to me for my federal case. I totally recommend that anybody that’s facing any serious charges to get a hold of you right away so that they don’t get screwed and put away for a long time. Thanks again to you and your staff for getting me home to my children.”
"I met Jeremy at the lowest point in my life. After my humiliating arrest, and the seeming end of my life, I won the public attorney lottery when by chance Jeremy was awarded my case. I was told in consultation with previous attorneys that my case was open and shut. The government had enough to convict, and that I was facing a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in federal prison. Jeremy made all the difference in my case and had a huge impact on my life. In an attempt to keep this short and helpful, here are some of the things Jeremy did that made me believe he is the best attorney I could have ever had representing me:
- Jeremy was always very frank with me, but never in a judgmental way.
- Jeremy set my expectations appropriately for each phase of my case, counseling me, but always giving me the pro’s and con’s to the different choices he presented to me.
- Jeremy showed a confidence in my ability to prove myself to the judge, and gave me lots of ideas of things I could do to help my situation.
- Jeremy kept pushing court dates as long as he could so I would have more time to show the judge who I am and my willingness to do whatever it takes to prove I would never offend again.
- Jeremy went way beyond my expectations and secured authorization for me to get evaluations and participate in treatment programs. He requested additional resources to hire outside experts to testify in my case.
The end result to all of the years of time Jeremy spent on my case, was that I received a non-prison sentence. The prosecutor and the judge both agreed that they had never seen a case like mine not result in a non-prison sentence.
A few months ago, I met with Jeremy in the courtroom for the last time as the Judge released me from my five years of probation after serving just over two years of that sentence.
I have such a gratitude for Jeremy and the time he spent on my case rather than simply moving me through the system. I ran into Jeremy a week ago while I was at lunch with co-workers, and felt like I’d ran into an old friend. My family and I will forever be grateful for Jeremy."
